Biography  

Dr. Chung is a native New Yorker who completed her undergraduate degree at Barnard College, Columbia University in 1989. She attended Cornell University Medical College and earned a Medical Degree in 1996. After completing her medical studies she remained in New York where she completed her internship and residency at New York University Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital Center in 1999.

Dr. Chung worked as a Hospitalist for one year at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY and then returned to New York University Medical Center where she completed a fellowship in Nephrology. She has been in private practice for six years and is an Attending Physician and Clinical Instructor at NYU School of Medicine. In addition to her clinical work, she teaches and supervises medical residents and medical students. She has admitting privileges at NYU Medical Center Tisch Hospital as well as NY Downtown Hospital- an affilitate of Columbia Presbyterian/Cornell University Hospital.


Dr. Chung's main interest is in kidney diseases, dialysis, kidney transplant, and kidney stone prevention. However, she believes that treating the whole person is important to good health. Although she specializes in kidney diseases, she devotes a significant part of her practice to patients with primary care/internal medicine issues.


Dr. Chung is the admitting physician for all her patients when admitted to Tisch Hospital at 32nd ST and First Ave, and NY Downtown hospital between William and Gold ST. She also does inpatient consultations and offers follow-up care in her office when patients are discharged from the hospital thereby providing continuity of care.


Dr. Chung is fluent in various Chinese dialogues including Cantonese, Mandarin, Toisanese, and Hakkanese. She also has a working knowledge of Spanish. Her offices are conveniently located in Lower Manhattan (Chinatown) and Midtown. She is in the downtown location at 123 Lafayette ST five days per week and at the uptown location one day per week. Her offices are easily accessible by public transportation. The downtown location is next to the train station- No 6, N, Q, W, R which will bring you straight to the office on the Canal St stop. Her midtown branch is located on the East side 37th St. between First and Second Ave. Transportation include M15 bus and No 6 train to the 33rd St. station.


Dr. Chung accepts all major insurances including various HMO medicaid. A referral from your primary doctor is required for all HMO and HMO medicaid insurance plans when Dr. Chung is the consulting physician.
